The study of science at the University of Auckland will provide you with a deep understanding of the world around you and equip you with the skills to help society grasp the opportunities and solve the problems of the 21st Century. Our faculty is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand offering a wide range of subjects and specialisations to more than 7,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students studying across 10 different schools and departments. The Faculty of Science is ranked among the top 90 science faculties worldwide by the QS World University Rankings. The faculty is situated in the heart of the city campus at New Zealand's world-ranked University.
Many of our schools and departments feature in the top 100 in QS World University Rankings By Subject, including: psychology (34), computer science and information systems (51-100), pharmacy and pharmacology (39), biological sciences (46), mathematics (51-100), statistics and operational research (51-100), environmental sciences (51-100) and geography (51-100).
Our students are taught by some of New Zealand’s top teachers and researchers. Over one third of New Zealand’s A-quality-ranked academics work at the University of Auckland, almost 50% more than at any other university in the country. This is reflected in the 2013 University of Auckland Student Satisfaction Survey, in which the Faculty achieved 95% of Science first year undergraduate student satisfaction.
